I wished upon a star last night
And then I closed my eyes
I prayed that it would hear my plea
And help my heart to rise
To rise in love
To fall again
To sip the twilight moon
To lift in love
To light again
Upon the cresting dune
I watched the distant ocean’s tide
And felt the breezlings draw
Was the journey straight ahead
To see before I saw
I chanced the ache, allowed to stir
A thrum within my breast
I risked my fragile inner peace
At yearning heart’s request
To rise in love
To fall again
To sip the twilight moon
To lift in love
To light again
Upon the cresting dune
I sat with weary brow to weep
I finally found the door
The love that gambles essence pure
It lay on yonder shore
I stood at last and caught the breeze
That whispered soft her name
I had a course, a place to find
A chance to love … again
To rise in love
To fall again
To sip the twilight moon
To lift in love
To light again
Upon love’s cresting dune
